Top 10 most commons microwave repairs

Won’t heat.

If countdown is processing, a glass tray is turning and normally sounds produced, then the problem is in high-voltage unit of the microwave. One of the parts got broken: magnetron, transformer, high-voltage diode, step-up circuit capacitor. Magnetron thermostat or one of safety switches may also be broken, or electronic control board relay malfunctions. It is impossible to determine a specific broken part without a diagnosis and we are ready to repair your microwave.

Won’t turn on.

It may happen due to burnt ceramic fuse or cut-off thermostat. If door latch hooks are old or their spring got broken then safety switched will not be duly pushed down. But it often happens due to poor quality of manufacturing when the contacts get burnt in safety switches or in control board relay and the microwave stops working. Loud or noisy.

When you can hear a loud sound, it is probably the magnetron or step-up transformer malfunctions. Though the microwave still normally heats but in a short time it will heat worse and then stops heating at all. If you can hear noisy sounds it is rather broken rotary table motor or mixer one. If it is noisy when the exhaust air fan is on then the problem is in exhaust fan motor and it shall be replaced. Whatever it is, you would better to call us before your microwave would stop working at all.

Inside sparking.

It may be caused by old and peeled paint on the inner walls of the appliance or lack care. In case of long usage the paint on the walls got peeled and metal walls get bared. Be informed it is unacceptable and cause sparking. Also, if you do not clean well inside the microwave then grease gets on and accumulates on the Mica plate, located inside on the right side, which result in plate`s burning and sparking. It is more likely that the magnetron is about to get completely broken and will result in expensive repair. But you may see sparking just because you use metal dish. All you need to do is to replace it with microwave safe dishes.

Stops in several seconds.

In this case the root of the problem may be in broken door switch or thermostat. There also might be key pad or control board malfunction and one of these boards shall be replaced. But sometimes this issue can be a consequence of broken transformer and it shall be replaced.

Turns off on the 59th second.

This problem happens only to Sharp and Viking brands. Depending on a cooking mode, inside the microwave a damper motor closes or opens a damper door and it takes 59 seconds. And if the controller senses the wrong door position then it interrupts the cycle. The source is to be found in damper motor, switch or damper door assy. Only highly-skilled and experienced technicians know how to fix this specific problem and we are exactly them.

Door won’t open.

If the door remains closed do not apply physical force to open it because the problem is in door latch lever. If it is damaged, the door hooks cannot be lifted to release the door. It is necessary to remove the microwave from cabinet, remove the cover and control panel and replace door latch lever.

Display not working.

It is a rather frequent issue. Display board or electronic control board may malfunction. One of them shall be replace.

One or all buttons not working.

Unfortunately, this is a frequent problem with Over-the-Range Microwave. While cooking steam and grease raise up, get inside the microwave and cover all inner parts. This result in button stuck or damage of one or several touch panel buttons or control panel malfunction.

Turntable not turning.

There are several causes of the problem: glass tray drive coupling problem, broken glass tray support, problem with the roller guide. Turntable motor may also be broken. If you try to use the microwave with broken turntable your food will not be heated evenly. Just call us and we will repair.
