If countdown is processing, a glass tray is turning and normally sounds produced, then the problem is in high-voltage unit of the microwave. One of the parts got broken: magnetron, transformer, high-voltage diode, step-up circuit capacitor. Magnetron thermostat or one of safety switches may also be broken, or electronic control board relay malfunctions. It may happen due to burnt ceramic fuse or cut-off thermostat. If door latch hooks are old or their spring got broken then safety switched will not be duly pushed down. When you can hear a loud sound, it is probably the magnetron or step-up transformer malfunctions. If it is noisy when the exhaust air fan is on then the problem is in exhaust fan motor and it shall be replaced. This problem happens only to Sharp and Viking brands. Depending on a cooking mode, inside the microwave a damper motor closes or opens a damper door and it takes 59 seconds. And if the controller senses the wrong door position then it interrupts the cycle. The source is to be found in damper motor, switch or damper door assy. If the door remains closed do not apply physical force to open it because the problem is in door latch lever. If it is damaged, the door hooks cannot be lifted to release the door. It is necessary to remove the microwave from cabinet, remove the cover and control panel and replace door latch lever.
